| Physical and Chemical Properties | Chemical properties lignin can be divided into two categories: guaiac-based lignin and guaiac-based (V)-syringa-based (S) lignin. The former exists in coniferous forests and some cryptophytes with contents of 24-34% and 15-30% respectively. The latter exists in broad-leaved forests with general contents of 16-24%, tropical broad-leaved forests with contents of 25-33%, some special needles with contents of 23-32% and grass with contents of 17-23%. |
| Use | Uses Lignin is an extremely rich natural resource, which needs to be developed and utilized. At present, lignin in pulp industry waste liquid is mainly used as fuel. Lignin sulfonate in sulfite pulping waste liquid can be used as adhesive, chelating agent, industrial detergent, water softener, emulsifier and emulsion stabilizer, tannin supplement, cement additive, petroleum drilling dispersant and soil stabilizer, etc. In addition, lignin sulfonic acid can also be used to prepare vanillin, vanillic acid, etc. Lignin in sulfate pulping waste liquid can prepare sulfur-containing aliphatic compounds, such as dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethyl sulfone and dimethyl sulfide. |
